Resource Classroom

Technology

The Resource room currently has 5 student computers. Students work on a variety of programs to increase reading, writing, math and language skills. Some of these programs include:

  • Eararobics for Phonics

  • Destination Math

  • Plato Multi-sensory Reading and Language

Accelerated Reader

Our goal in Resource this year is that the students have read and passed the exams for over 200 books. Parents are encouraged to use the school and public libraries to help students reach this goal. The Accelerated Reader program helps students master necessary reading, writing and spelling skills.

Other Activities

Content Mastery

We work on content mastery in quiet study groups.

LeapFrog

We have about 15 LeapFrog Learning Pads. The students use these learning pads to work on and reinforce their work on phonics.

Box Tops

Students in all Askew classes collect Box Tops for Education. Resource students help collect, count and sort these Box Tops. Students learn math and sorting skills through this activity. Askew earns money that is used to benefit all student's education.

Field Trips

Field trips improve student self esteem and motivation.

Parent Resources and Materials

Appropriate math, reading, language arts, and handwriting materials are available for any parent who would like to help any student at home.
